Attore, regista e drammaturgo britannico (n. Stepney, Londra, 1937). Influenzato da B. Brecht, A. Artaud e dal Living Theatre, B. è artista politico, iconoclasta, radicale oppositore delle istituzioni. Autore di visionarie riduzioni di F. Kafka, E. A. Poe, W. Shakespeare e O. Wilde, che ha anche interpretato con atletico agonismo (Metamorphosis, 1969; The trial, 1988; The fall of the house of Usher, 1974; I am Hamlet, 1989; Salomè, 1993), ha scritto testi dal linguaggio osceno e gergale (East, 1975; Greek, 1980; Decadence, 1981; West, 1981), lo scandaloso Sink the Belgrano (1986), violento attacco al comportamento di M. Thatcher durante la guerra delle Falkland, Kvetch (1991) e Massage (1997). Ha inoltre interpretato i film A clockwork orange (1971), Barry Lyndon (1975), Mc Vicar (1980), Underworld (1985), The Krays (1990), Fair game (Facile preda, 1995). Nel 1996 ha pubblicato la sua autobiografia, Free association.
