SOLOW, Robert Merton

Economista americano, nato a Brooklyn (New York) il 23 agosto 1924. Ha studiato presso l'università di Harvard, dove nel 1951 ha conseguito il Ph. D. Dal 1958 è professore di economia nel Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ha acquistato rinomanza nel 1956, con uno scritto (A contribution to the theory of economic growth, in Quarterly Journal of economics, febbraio 1956) che costituisce uno dei primi studi d'indirizzo neo-classico della moderna teoria economica. Numerosi e molto apprezzati gli ulteriori contributi di S. alla teoria economica, soprattutto per quanto riguarda la teoria del capitale.
