Bury Saint Edmunds 1908 - m. 1989), prof. nelle università di Oxford e di Londra, ha collaborato alla redazione del rapporto Radcliffe; è stato uno dei maggiori esperti di problemi monetarî e bancarî e ha scritto notevoli saggi di storia economica. Tra le opere: Modern banking (1938, 7a ed. 1967; trad. it. dalla 6a ed. 1967); American banking system (1948); Banking in the British Commonwealth (1952); Financial policy 1939-45 (1956); Lloyd Bank in the history of English banking (1957); Central banking after Bagehot (1957; trad. it. 1967); A history of economic change in England 1880-1939 (1967); Gillette in the London money market 1867-1967 (1968); The bank of England, 1891-1944 (1976).
