De Mille, Cecil Blount

Enciclopedia on line

Talvolta De M. riuscì a forzare le convenzioni con risultati egregi: Reap the wild wind (Vento selvaggio, 1941), The story of Dr. Wassel (1944), Unconquered (Gli invincibili, 1947); in qualche caso l'esito è di rilievo, come in The plainsman (La conquista del West, 1937). Il genere però a lui più congeniale e per il quale maggiore fu la sua influenza è il kolossal: The ten commandments (1923, rifatto nel 1955-56); The king of kings (1927); The sign of the cross (1932); Cleopatra (1934); Samson and Delilah (1949); The greatest show on earth (1952).
